Yesterday I mentioned Scandinavian Roots Music by way of explaining why I was out of the loop vis-a-vis Radiohead at the turn of the millennium. Since a couple of you were curious, here's a little taste of it. I'd say it's basically their folk music, with a rock/jazz/metal/whatever flavor to it. There was a little annual festival of it that we used to go to in Minneapolis, but they aren't doing it that often anymore. I've annotated the CDs, and here are a couple of YouTube links of the two bands that I was into most at the time for your delectation: Garmarna live: we saw this show, in fact.) cookie, note the hurdy-gurdies! So I was wandering around Chinatown with MizB last night in between a gallery show and some tequila and guacamole, and I looked in an empty storefront window and said "dang, if I only had my camera with me I would totally shoot that fabulous shadow in there." So she whipped out her tiny camera and shot it for me and sent it to me. Thanks! I've got my camera with me today, so let's see if I can get back into this again.

Panique au Village

On November 7th I went to see this fabulous Belgian movie Panique au Village that features a number of small plastic animals and people... it's so up my alley that I was afraid that maybe I'd made it myself and then forgotten, except that its French is better than mine so it couldn't have been me. Go see it, then you'll get the joke in the photo.
